Journeys Plus incorporates HIV prevention into the existing Journeys gender-based violence programming for President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Prevention of HIV infection in children, adolescent girls, and young women (AGYW) remains an important challenge and PEPFAR focuses on sustainable control of the HIV epidemic resulting in a greater impact on the epidemic and improved outcomes for people. Adolescent girls and Young are being targeted under DREAMS for Journeys in Luwero. Journeys Plus is a platform for learners to dialogue and reflect on activities that prevent HIV and GBV. When learners participate in these activities regularly they will develop their social assets and negotiation skills to be able to make the right choices to prevent HIV and GBV that is around them. This intervention is coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) with support from USAID LARA- RTI. In partnership with RTI LARA, ACODEV Participated in the orientation of 26 Community facilitators to the journeys plus curriculum with 15 sessions for 633 AGYW in Luwero.

Many Programs and Projects managers tend to think that finance management is only for Finance Managers, accountants etc.. This is not true, actually Program managers termed as “Non-finance managers” have a big role in understanding how their programs are being implemented, this process cant be without utilizing money. Therefore as managers, there is strong need to understand key financial principles “Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

ACODEV is proud to take advantage of understanding these principles with support from PATH by empowering staff having a comprehensive knowledge of the GAAP.

Not only this but also helping all non-finance managers to appreciate tracking financial utilization at the level of efficiency and effectiveness.

CBOs have an opportunity to interact with ACODEV staff to understand key practical processes!

ACODEV, under the Keep It Real Project (Sexuality Education); is currently working with the different adolescents in schools of Kampala to engage them in interactive health talks. Sexuality education in schools has strengthened knowledge acquisition for adolescents to understand sexual reproductive health and the associated challenges with information on how these challenges can be overcome. The health talks approach engages qualified health workers from the different health centers to respond to a number of key questions from the adolescents; at least more than 25,000 adolescents in primary and secondary schools of Kampala have been reached.

OVC support

[ZK1]What kind of books? Notebooks?
[ZK2]Need to use another word, not support.

ALSO: How do we select who receives scholarships?
[ZK3]I don’t think we should write their whole names. Maybe first name, grade, and school
[ZK4]How did they help with the project? Did they identify the students? Why do we care that they got free t-shirts?
